Christmas shopping at the bazaar
Cally Hellsten, 7, of London browsed the many items for silent auction during the annual Catholic Women’s League (CWL) Christmas Bazaar in the basement of Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in Aylmer on Tuesday morning, Nov. 8. Ms. Hellsten’s ancestors lived in the Aylmer and East Elgin area in the 1800s and her family visits the town and area cemeteries at least once a year. As in past years, the CWL Christmas Bazaar featured free draws, the silent auction, crafts, gently used toys, clothes and other household goods, and “baked food galore.” A hot turkey potpie lunch with coleslaw and dessert was also served. Proceeds from the event will go towards local charities the CWL supports throughout the year.
