Marilyn Grace Overholt
OVERHOLT, Marilyn Grace of Terrace Lodge, Aylmer and formerly of Port Rowan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 14, 2018, at her residence, at the age of 88. Daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Brooks) Overholt. Dear friend of Karen Dance & family and Shirley Slaght. Marilyn was born in St. Thomas on May 1, 1930. She graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and the UWO School of Nursing. She taught nursing graduates in Barrie and Nursing Services and Nursing Principles in Port Arthur, Owen Sound, Victoria Hospital, London and St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. Since 1974 she taught nursing students in post-graduate courses and was co-director for the Health Care Aide Program at Fanshawe College, Simcoe Campus on a part-time basis. She was a nursing consultant for the Delhi Nursing Home, director of nursing at the Port Dover Nursing Home and administrator at the St. Williams Nursing Home for intermittent periods during those times. Marilyn retired in 1992. She enjoyed carving wildlife decoys. She was passionate about nature and the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service was held on Thursday at 1 p.m. Visitation on Thursday from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. Private interment in St. Thomas Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.
