Aylmer racer wins motocross race

MotocrossColton Facciotti of Aylmer flew through the air and hit the muddy sand hard after a large jump during the first of two heats (called “motos”) during the Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals MX1 race at Gopher Dunes south of Courtland on Saturday, July 12. Facciotti, a past multiple time professional Canadian motocross champion, placed first in that moto and second in the next heat to take the title and 47 points. He leads the MX1 season standings with 206 points with his nearest rival behind him by 28 points. Springfield’s Derek Hamm finished 18th in the same field and earned seven points in his first MX1 race. Richmond’s Dylan Wright competed in the MX2 class at Gopher Dunes the same day and finished 15th.
