Eagles easily tame Huskies

Ali Van GorpJrbball of the East Elgin Secondary School Junior girls basketball team was closely guarded by a Woodstock Huron Park Secondary School defender during a game in Aylmer on Tuesday, Oct. 27. The East Elgin Eagles won 35-22 to improve their record to six wins and one loss for the season. Alyssa Voros was the leading scorer for the Eagles with 11 points. EESS coach Dave Arnett said his team played great defense overall and played well in the first and fourth quarters but they struggled to score in the second and third quarters. The second place Eagles are hot on the heels of the first place St. Thomas Parkside Collegiate Institute squad who has an undefeated 6-0 record. East Elgin’s last game before the playoffs is at Tillsonburg on Tuesday, Nov. 4 starting at 4 p.m. The Senior Eagles also make the trip to Tillsonburg that day for a 2:30 p.m. tip-off.
