House fire just west of Springfield

webfire2Malahide firefighters fought a stubborn fire in a home on the north side of Ron McNeil Line, just west of Springfield, Thursday night, Nov. 12. Tankers from several stations raced to hydrants on Dingle Street and Talbot Street East in Aylmer and in front of Aylmer Tire, then back to the blaze, to keep firefighters supplied. Malahide Fire Chief Brent Smith said one firefighter received medical treatment on the scene for a minor injury. No one was home when the fire started. The two men who own and live at the property also have an apartment in London. One of them said they were working with their insurance company on next steps including where they would live while the damage from the fire is cleaned up and the house is rebuilt. The home was completely destroyed by the fire and caused an estimated $450,000 damage. The fire started on the exterior of the rear part of the house and Chief Smith said the exact cause is listed as “undetermined.”
