Boil water advisory ended

The boil water advisory for residents of Malahide, Bayham and Central Elgin affected by the watermain break west of Port Bruce was ended at about 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15.

A media release issued by Elgin St. Thomas Public Health advised the boil water advisory had been cancelled by Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock.

The boil water advisory had been issued on Monday afternoon, June 13 after a break had occurred in the trunk waterline serving the south end of Malahide, Bayham and Central Elgin affecting 1,350 customers.

“The Medical Officer of Health has received results of water testing from the Port Burwell Area Secondary Water Supply System showing that the water in the affected area is free of bacteria and the water is now safe for drinking,” the Elgin St. Thomas Public Health media release stated.
