Hacienda Roadhouse gutted by fire
A fire that broke out shortly be
fore 9 p.m. on Monday, June 6 has caused significant damage to the inside of the Hacienda Roadhouse Café.
The restaurant is located just east of Aylmer on the northeast corner of Talbot Line (Highway 3) and Hacienda Road.
The next morning, co-owner Bertha Wiebe said her husband, John, was the only one inside the restaurant at the time the fire broke out.
Her husband tried to put out the fire with his arm but he quickly realized it had grown too large for that and he got out of the restaurant.
Other than her husband who received minor burns, no one else in the family was injured in the fire. He was treated at the scene by emergency medical services.
