Making science fun at the library

ScienceGuyCraig (Johnston) the Science Guy, left, made a bit of a mess while shooting off bottle rockets in the parkette next to Aylmer Old Town Hall Library on Thursday afternoon, July 7 during the kick-off of the TD Summer Reading Club’s “Wild Thursdays.” Several children first watched Mr. Johnston perform a series of fun experiments in the second floor Old Town Hall Theatre that taught some basic science principles before they went outside to shoot off the rockets using vinegar and baking soda as “fuel.” Mr. Johnston is from Aylmer and volunteered his time as the Science Guy that afternoon to entertain and enlighten the children. The Summer Reading Club series of events will continue each Thursday at the Aylmer Library until Aug. 4.
