Man found dead next to trailer fire

A 50-year-old man was found dead next to a camping trailer destroyed by fire on Tuesday morning, Sept. 20 in Port Bruce.

A Malahide Fire Department spokesman said volunteer firefighters were called to a fire at a unit within Beelin Trailer Park at 49508 Dexter Line in Port Bruce at 6:27 a.m.

“We are currently assisting the OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) and the Office of the Fire Marshal with their investigation,” the spokesman said.

“A 50-year-old male was found deceased by the trailer,” Elgin OPP Constable Adam Crewdson said. “The Elgin OPP crime unit is investigating the death of the individual. A coroner attended the scene and ordered a post mortem for tomorrow to determine the cause of death.”

“The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next-of-kin,” he added.
