Hawk Cliff Woods dedication celebrated
Thames Talbot Land Trust member Ann White was on hand for the dedication and official opening of Hawk Cliff Woods located on the north shore of Lake Erie just east of Port Stanley at the southern end of Fairview Road off Dexter Line on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 18. She visits the nature preserve “quite often” and was thankful Thames Talbot Land Trust purchased the 230 acre (93 hectare) site. Trust executive director Suzanne McDonald announced at the event that her organization had reached 98 percent of their $1.6-million fundraising goal for the project that will protect and maintain the environmentally significant tract of Carolinian forest that attracts birders and nature lovers from throughout the region and beyond. “I think it’s wonderful to know that Hawk Cliff will be here forever for our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren,” Ms. White said.
