Number official, 40 infected in Bayham–updated
Southwestern Public Health, in news conference Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 3, reported that 40 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed among workers at a Bayham farm, all but one residing in a series of bunkhouses on the site.
Tests on 157 farm workers and close contacts had been completed, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Joyce Lock stated.
The source of the infection was unknown, she said, but precautions being taken under public health guidelines at the farm appeared to have broken down somehow. That was now being investigated by the health unit and the farm owner.
One worker remains hospitalized, while 39 more are in mandatory self-isolation.
Elsewhere, Aylmer and St. Thomas remain steady at one confirmed case each.
In Oxford, three new cases have appeared in Ingersoll, while two cases continue in Tillsonburg and one in South-West Oxford.
Altogether, Southwestern Public Health is currently tracking 45 cases in its region.
Across Ontario, a new provincial record was set with 1,050 new cases confirmed.
