John Albert Brouwer
Brouwer – John Albert of St. Thomas, passed away at London Health Sciences Centre – Victoria Campus with family by his side on Monday, October 26, 2020 at the age of 77. John is predeceased by his loving wife Deanna Brouwer (nee Rieger), (August 10, 2019). He is survived by his children Bob Brouwer (Karen) of St. Thomas, Rhonda Banks of London and Grant Brouwer of St. Thomas; by his grandchildren Paige, Ian, Jaimie, Aaron, Noah and Myra Brouwer; by his siblings Alie (Theo) Den Ouden, Bert (Christa) Brouwer, Tonnie (Bertus) Schreuder, Lia Brouwer, Riet (Marco) van de Wagt, and Toos (Martin) Van Wychen, his siblings-in-law Trina Nagy (Lloyd) and Gerard Rieger; and predeceased by his sisters Tonnie (1942) and Ans (2005). John was born in Hoogland (The Netherlands) on March 18, 1943 to the late Wilfred (2004) and Petronella (Van de Wolfshaar) (1956). John immigrated to Canada in 1961 at the age of 18, where for a short time he called Woodstock home and later resided in Aylmer where he met Deanna. John and Deanna later married in 1965 and moved throughout Southwestern Ontario before residing just outside St Thomas in New Sarum. 41 years ago, in 1979, John started A1 Unique Installations, a family operated business doing renovations and which is still proudly serving St. Thomas, London and surrounding area today. John enjoyed many things in life including a clean and tidy construction site, camping and fishing with friends and family, and a nice cold beer at the end of a long day. Nothing warmed his heart more than spending time with his grandchildren. In John’s free time, he would be found at his grandchildren’s hockey, ringette and baseball games or having the kids over to help cut grass and do yard work to teach them a strong work ethic. A private memorial service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) with Fr. Graham Keep officiating. Interment in Holy Angels Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the new Springwater Conservation Area Visitor Centre.
