ICS pupils, staff and volunteers Ride for Refuge
Kelly DeJong, left, Adma Bergsma, Dean Rollins, Dylan Vandersleen, Luke Schuurman, Dyllon Bergen, Jake Bergen and Sue Dykxhoorn were about to embark on a 30-kilometre bicycle trek from Immanuel Christian School along rural roads southwest of Aylmer for the Ride for Refuge on Saturday morning, Oct. 4. Over 20 cyclists of varying experience participated in this year’s event that raised about $700 for charity. Riders could choose three lengths of courses, 10 km, 30 km or 50 km, the latter similar to part of the Three Port Tour sponsored and organized each August by the Aylmer Express. ICS Principal Keith Cameron said 60 percent of the money raised would go to charities the school was involved in and 40 percent towards Ride for Refuge.
