Dancing at Summers Corners
East Elgin Secondary School Grade 11-12 dance class students Clarissa Giesbrecht, front left, Monique Froese and Claire Dennis, along with their teacher Alicia Steenholdt, front right, led the Grade 8 pupils at Summers Corners Public School through a hip hop-style warm-up to the song Fireball by Pitbull on Monday, Dec. 15. Not pictured was dance class student Jade Ward who was leading pupils in the back. The dance workshop gave Ms. Steenholdt’s senior students a chance to share their love of dance with their younger peers. Later during the workshop, the students taught the younger pupils some choreography from the dance show they are practicing for with music from the movie The Great Gatsby. The theme of the EESS dance show that will be held in January is A Night At the Movies and Gatsby will be the closing number. The EESS senior dance class students were back at Summers Corners for a workshop with the Grade 7 students on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Earlier workshops had already been held by the EESS dance class students at Straffordville and Davenport public schools.
