Bus and bike collide east of St. Thomas
A motorcyclist received what a police spokesman called “moderate non-life threatening injuries” following a collision with a school bus just east of St. Thomas on Tuesday morning, May 26.
Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police Constable Troy Carlson said the crash happened at about 8:10 a.m. on Highway 3 (Talbot Line) just east of Centennial Avenue east of St. Thomas.
A motorcycle driven by a 64-year-old St. Thomas man was travelling east on Highway 3 when a school bus exited a private drive on the south side of the same road and turned west towards St. Thomas.
The bus travelled in front of the motorcycle which struck the rear portion of the bus.
Const. Carlson said the driver of the motorcycle was thrown from the bike, sustained “moderate non-life threatening injuries” and was transported to hospital by ambulance.
He said motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the bus, a 65-year-old St. Thomas man, was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt.
Const. Carlson said there were no students on board the bus.
Police continue to investigate the collision.
