Fire destroys home on Warren St.
A fire destroyed a home on Warren Street in Aylmer on the late morning of Friday, June 26. While no details were immediately available from the Aylmer Fire Department, Roy Robinson, a next door neighbour, said he was mowing his back yard at about 11 a.m. when he saw smoke come out of the back of the other house. He immediately went inside with his sister, Nellie Robinson, who was visiting at the time and called 911 to report the fire. Large flames and billowing smoke were seen coming from the top of the house and the smoke plume could be seen several blocks away. The fire appeared to brought under control by firefighters by about 11:53 a.m. Mr. Robinson said a woman was inside the house when the fire started but escaped unharmed. He said her son who also lives at the house was at work at the time.
