A dove’s home is her castle

A mourning dove pair has taken advantage of a safe spot next to Fred Kristoff’s garage in Aylmer to build their nest and for the female to lay her eggs. This photo was taken of the nest on the south side of Mr. Kristoff’s home on York Street on Wednesday morning, May 11. Mourning dove clutch sizes are almost always two eggs, not three, Mr. Kristoff said, however females are known to sometimes lay eggs in the nest of another pair.  Mr. Kristoff builds decorative castles as a hobby and other examples of his craftsmanship can be seen when you pass by his front yard. Gardening is another of Mr. Kristoff’s keen hobbies.
