Shirley Hulme Pattinson
Shirley Pattinson of London died September 7, 2021 in her 66th year. She was the youngest daughter of Hulme and Florence Pattinson, predeceased by her parents and her sister Patricia (Pip), and survived by her sisters Donnajean, Lynn and Mary, and her three nephews Oliver, Kingsley and Grahame and one niece Eliza. After attending East Elgin High School, she graduated from Sea Pines Abroad in Faistenau, Austria. A great lover of all animals, over the years she surrounded herself with numerous rescued dogs and cats but her first love was horses. After studying stable management and horse training, she moved to Hyde Park, where she managed the London Equestrian and Training Centre for 35 years. There, she hosted provincial championship horse shows and other equestrian events, instructed hundreds of students in horsemanship, and boarded and cared for many horses over the years. After retiring, her love of animals led her to supporting the rescue and care of orphaned and abused African elephants and rhinos. In her last few years, she spent her time organizing numerous successful fundraising events for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Kenya. (https://sheldrickwildlifetrust.org). Shirley was a very kind and gentle soul, she was much-loved and she is, and will remain, sorely missed.
