Jacquie Baldwin
BALDWIN, Jacquie – At home, after a Thanksgiving weekend surrounded by joy, laughter and tears, Jacquie died peacefully on Wednesday, October 12. Her husband, Paul, and family were by her side. Jacquie was the daughter of Marjorie and Dr. J.A. Peart. She was raised in St. Thomas and attended STCI and Huron College. She married Paul in 1969, and they first moved to Aylmer in 1972. Jacquie is survived by her siblings, Dick (Sharon), Bob (Mary Martin) and Ginny Peart. She was the cherished Mum of Andrea, Katie and Betsey, mother-in-law of James Cockhill and Paul Skafel, and beloved Granny to Bradley, Melissa, Aaron, and Thomas.
The Baldwins lived on Pine Street in Aylmer from 1972 to 1986. There, Jacquie made enduring friendships, including the Art Tarts, who have remained a constant source of support and delight.
After relocating as a family to West Elgin in 1986, Jacquie and Paul returned to Aylmer in 1994. Following their return, Jacquie served as secretary of both the Aylmer Area Community Foundation and the Aylmer Performing Arts Council (APAC) and pulled many an all-nighter to ensure that the minutes were delivered on time and in order. She also volunteered at the Corner Cupboard and was an enthusiastic member of the Community Band. Jacquie nearly wore herself out in the reconstruction of their new “empty nest” home on Sydenham Street, where she lived happily with Paul until 2012.
In that year, Jacquie and Paul moved to Ottawa. Jacquie’s retirement was busy with travel, books, and bridge. But she suffered from osteoporosis and advanced COPD and chose to gather family to say her final good-byes. She died in peace on her own terms after a life full of love and adventure. #foreveratart
