MPP Yurek visits Dr. Toth
Elgin-Middlesex-London MPP Jeff Yurek visited Aylmer family physician Dr. Mike Toth at his office on Thursday, April 30 to promote the next day (May 1) being celebrated as Doctors’ Day in Ontario. May 1st was recognized by the provincial government in 2011 as the official day of appreciation for Ontario’s medical profession. The date was chosen to mark the birthday of Canada’s first female physician, Dr. Emily Stowe. The Ontario Medical Association launched its annual Doctors’ Day campaign on May 1. During this May, patients and their families are invited to celebrate Doctors’ Day by submitting a personalized thank you message to their doctor and sharing their stories through OntarioDoctors.com or by Tweeting using #docsrock. For every submission, Ontario’s doctors will donate $1 to the Canadian Red Cross Society. Dr. Toth was recently named as president-elect of the OMA and will officially assume the president position on Sunday, May 3.
