Discovery of body now a murder case in St. Thomas

The Christmas Day discovery of a dead man in a Talbot Street apartment in St. Thomas has now turned into a murder investigation.

A St. Thomas Police spokesman said the death of Danny DiGiandomenico, 36, has now been “classified as a homicide.”

Previously, the investigation determined DiGiandomenico died as a result of sharp force trauma and members of the Criminal Investigations Branch had been treating the incident as a suspicious death.

“As a result of the investigation to date as well as evidence returned by the Centre of Forensic Science and case conferences with the Office of the Regional Coroner, the St. Thomas City Police Service has now classified this investigation as a Homicide,” the spokesman said.

He added the investigation would continue and anyone with information was asked to contact Crime Stoppers.

“At this point there is nothing further to release to the media and updates will be provided when possible,” the spokesman concluded.

Mr. DiGiandomenico’s lifeless body was discovered at his apartment on Dec. 25 just before 7 p.m.

Back in December, police would not confirm what type of weapon or instrument caused the sharp force trauma or where it was inflicted on Mr. DiGiandomenico’s body.
