Santa returns to Springfield for his annual parade
The London Mocha Shriners Oriental Band entertained the dozens of local residents and visitors who gathered along Ron McNeil Line to watch the annual Springfield Santa Claus Parade on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 3. The parade featured several floats, two more bands, full size and miniature horses, dogs, police cruisers and fire trucks and lasted over a half hour. Malahide volunteer firefighters collected non-perishable food items for Aylmer Corner Cupboard food bank and held a hotdog and French fry barbecue at the Springfield Community Services Building’s fire hall with proceeds going towards the Save Springfield Public School campaign. Both the school and the Save Springfield Public School volunteer committee entered floats in the parade.
