Gwenda McConnell

McConnell, Gwenda of Aylmer passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family at the Barrie Family Hospice of Elgin on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. She was 65 years old. Beloved wife of Todd McConnell of 45 years. Cherished mom of Jamie-Lynn Friesen(Walter) of Aylmer and Leslie Moore(Anthony) of Aylmer. Her grandchildren Riley, Zander, Brinley, Devon, Roger and Charlie were the light of her life. Dear sister of Gary Laur(Joan), Jim Laur(Ann), and Randy Laur(Heidi). Sister-in-law of Susan Killingsworth(Stew), Janet Hillman(Ron) and Lori Clifton(Otis). Predeceased by her sister Rosemary Ball(Bill), her in-laws Betty and Sloan McConnell and brother-in-law Gary McConnell. She will be fondly remembered by a number of nieces and nephews. Born in St. Thomas, Ontario on June 16, 1960, daughter of the late Grant and Joyce(Ratcliffe) Laur.  Over the years, Gwenda worked at Elgin Feeds and Beaver Lumber, where she enjoyed connecting with customers who often became close friends. She loved staying active and spent many happy years playing softball and bowling at Cy’s. Gwenda’s family was the centre of her world, and she never missed a chance to cheer on her grandchildren at their games. She was always their biggest fan. Visitation will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Friday, December 26, 2025 from 1-4:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on December 27, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Friends and family are encouraged to wear your favourite ugly Christmas sweater.
