County okays 4% levy increase
Elgin County councillors on Tuesday, Feb. 11, unanimously approved a $62-million budget for 2014 that will increase the local property tax levy by four percent.
Financial Services Director Jim Bundschuh said the average home might expect to pay an additional $32 in property tax to the county, though actual increases would vary depending on property assessment changes.
The budget includes $1.7-million in funding from reserves.
