Belmont Novices split first two in OMHA finals

Belmont Minor Hockey Atom players formed a guard of honour as their Novice Rep team skated onto the ice for Game 2 of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association West championship series against Hagersville, Sunday night, March 16. The night before, Belmont defeated host Hagersville 9-3. But in Belmont, the two teams fought a seesaw battle that ended in a 6-5 win for the visitors. Game 3 of the series will be played in Hagersville Wednesday, March 19, at 6 p.m. Game 4 will be back in Belmont Saturday, March 22, at 12 noon, and Game 5 if needed will be played in Hagersville the following day at 5 p.m. Meanwhile, Belmont’s Peewee Rep team, playing in an OMHA final against Mariposa, lost Game 1  in Little Britain, northeast of Toronto, Saturday, March 15, 3-2, but tied Game 2 there Sunday, March 16, 0-0. Games 3 and 4 will be in Belmont, Saturday, March 22, at 1 p.m. and Sunday, March 23, at 5 p.m.
