Former Brookside operators fined
The former owner of Brookside Manor Retirement Home in Aylmer – now closed and for sale – and a company involved with the facility last fall were fined a total of $50,000 after they were found guilty of Ontario Fire Code violations in provincial offences court at the Elgin County administration building south of St. Thomas on Thursday, April 24.
Mario Milano of California was fined a total of $20,000 for four separate violations, $5,000 for each infraction, while 1753359 Ontario Ltd. was fined a total of $30,000 for three violations at $10,000 each.
The violations stem from an inspection of the private retirement home conducted by Aylmer Fire Chief Sam Taylor on Nov. 22, 2013.
