Forest Festival a fun learning experience
Summers Corners Public School Grade 6 pupil Lexi Lewis was able to hold a corn snake at the Slimy or Scaly exhibit and learning station during the Carolinian Forest Festival at Jaffa Environmental Education Centre on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Jointly hosted by the education centre, Catfish Creek Conservation Authority and the Thames Valley District School Board, the aim of the three-day event was to help connect local pupils to nature, specifically the Carolinian Life Zone. From Oct. 7-9 at Jaffa and Springwater Conservation Area, 1,500 Grade 6 and 7 pupils from Elgin, Middlesex and Oxford counties were expected to participate in 37 hands-on activities.
