Hundreds of items up for sale at huge farm auction

Hundreds of items were  up for sale at the annual Farm Equipment Consignment Auction at Shackelton Auctions located northeast of Springfield near the corner of Lyons Line and Putnam Road on Saturday, Oct. 1. The day-long auction sold off several partial lines, estates, dealer inventory reductions and over 200 local farmers consignments of farm equipment and machinery including tractors, combines, cultivators, plows, planters, drills, sprayers, forklifts, pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, tools and much more. Dozens, perhaps hundreds, of vehicles, mostly farmers’ pickup trucks, were parked at any one time along the roads north, south, east and west of Shackelton Auctions throughout the day. Small shuttle buses picked up and dropped off deal seekers from along the roads as parking in nearby soaked fields was abandoned due to the rainy weather.
