André Lankhuijzen
André Lankhuijzen, passed away peacefully with his family by his side at his residence on Wednesday August 28th, 2024 in his 74th year.
Beloved husband of 48 years to Annemiek. Dear father and opa to Reinira, Scott, Hayden and Rylan of Canmore, Alberta. Annemarie, Duane, DeAndre, Davin and Dawson of Brampton. Anselm, Anita, Livia and Leo of Port Burwell. He will also be missed by his brother, Dingeman(Dineke), his extended family in the Netherlands as well as his dog Boef.
André was born on a farm in Raamsdonk, the Netherlands, on June 18th 1951. Farming was his lifelong passion, this and his sense of adventure led him and Annemiek to Africa in 1976. They farmed and raised their children in Tanzania on the plains of Maasai land, surrounded by wildlife and the Maasai people. After a short stint in the Netherlands their journey brought them back to East Africa. This time they lived in Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania; where he worked hard but also enjoyed many adventurous camping safaris with his family. In 1994 the Lankhuijzen family immigrated to Canada to realise their lifelong dream of owning their own farm. They settled in the Aylmer area and built a successful potato farming operation. Upon his retirement André and Annemiek continued to travel with Costa Rica being one of their favourite destinations.
André had high standards for everyone but especially himself. His strong work ethic was integral in his farming success. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going for walks on his farms with his wife and dog. His perseverance and resilience served him well during his journey with Leukaemia. He will be deeply missed.
Visitations will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Sunday September 1, 2024 from 6-7 p.m. and Monday September 2, 2024 from 10 a.m. -11 a.m. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Mavis Currie, will be held at the funeral home on Monday September 2, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
