Bob Habkirk
Habkirk, Robert Clark “Bob” of Aylmer passed away at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, February 22, 2026. He was 83 years old. Beloved husband of the late Audrey (Maracle) Habkirk. Dear brother of Peggy Franklin (Allen) of Aylmer. Loving father of Jobbie Peloquin (Scott) of St. Thomas. Cherished grandpa to Jason, Jeff, David, Nicole, Heather, Tyler, Lindsay, Emilee and great-grandpa to Immogen, Riley and Declan. Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughters Sherry Sibley McMurray, Sharon Hill, Shelly Aresneault, granddaughter Cher Anne, grandson Christopher and sisters Mary Hewitt, Betty Winter and brother George Habkirk. Born in Stratford, Ontario on August 9, 1942, son of the late William and Sadie (Pettigrew) Habkirk.
Starting in the 60s, Bob was a lead driver and trainer throughout Ontario for Habkirk Stables. Bob worked at Ford Talbotville for many years. He served as the Mayor of the Town of Aylmer from 1995-2003 and 2007-2010. Bob was a founding board member of the Aylmer Area Community Foundation and helped to fundraise for the Alzheimer Society. For 52 years, he was a convenor for OHA and secretary-treasurer for the Allan Cup. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication and steadfast commitment to serving his community with integrity and compassion.
Visitation will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 3-7:00 p.m. The memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation-burial: Aylmer Cemetery.
