Manfred “Fred” Hermann

Sept. 3, 1949 – Nov. 11, 2023

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Hermann of Straffordville, age 74, at Woodingford Lodge in Tillsonburg, on Nov 11, 2023.  Fred was born in Germany in 1949, and came to Canada in 1954 at the age of 5.  He grew up in the Aylmer area and moved to Straffordville to farm in the late 1970s.

Fred worked on his father’s farm near Aylmer as a child and that experience planted the seed of agriculture, which would later grow into an obsession for the business.  He raised cash crops in the Straffordville area for over 40 years.  He loved fast cars and the sunny south in winter.

He is survived by his Best Friend and partner of 53 years, Susan (Clarke) Hermann, his children, Tobi (Rishi) Siew and their children Isabel and Devi of Dorchester, Keith Hermann and his children Konnor, Zander and Max of London and Stephen Hermann of Langton. He is also survived by his sister Edith Fama of London, and sister in-law Lynn Johnston (and friend Dave), as well as nephews Jeff Mathers and Brendan Finnigan and niece Shelagh Finnigan.

We would like to thank Fred’s wonderful caregivers, who have become like family to us, and also the staff at Woodingford Lodge for their excellent care.

In keeping with Fred’s wishes, cremation has taken place and at his request, there will be no visitation or funeral service.  Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
