Passed away, following a courageous struggle with illness, we the family announce the peaceful passing of our much-loved sister and friend, Helena Klassen, at Franklin Gardens Long Term Care Home, Leamington, on April 30, 2023, at the age of 80. Helena was born in Durango, Mexico. Helena immigrated to Canada from British Honduras in 1989 and settled in Aylmer. Helena was a resident of Tillsonburg until 2021, when she moved to Leamington to be closer to her family. Helena will be remembered by many as a devoted Christian and member of the Tillsonburg Alliance Church. Helena is survived by her siblings, step-siblings, and their families: Isaac (late Elizabeth), Belize; Margaret (John Wiebe), of Belize; Nancy (Isaac Wiebe), of Leamington; Anna (John Maertens), of Belize; George (Margaret) Klassen, of Belize; David (Rosita) Klassen, of Belize; Frank (Maria) Klassen, of Mexico; John (late Anna) Klassen, of Belize; Ben (late Margaret) Dyck, of Kitchener; Margaret (late George) Friesen, of Tillsonburg; Anna (Dave) Friesen, of Aylmer; Anne (late Neil) Dyck, of Kitchener; John (Angele) Dyck, of Gogama; Jake (Helen) Dyck, of Delmer; Susan (Abe) Wall, of Kitchener; Dave (Judi) Dyck, of Tillsonburg; Pete (Deb) Dyck, of Tillsonburg. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, step-nieces and nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by her mother Helen (Peters) Klassen, father Isaac Klassen, step-mother Sara Dyck-Klassen, and step brother & sister-in-law Abe & Margaret Dyck.
Friends, neighbours, and relatives are invited to attend public visitation on Monday, May 8th, 2023, between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m. (service time) in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes Chapel, Tillsonburg. A public funeral service follows at 2:00 p.m. by Pastor Paul Robinson. A public livestream will be offered at www.youtube.com, a direct link can also be requested by emailing verhoevefuneral@kwic.com before Monday May 8th’s service. Burial follows in Delmer Cemetery. All funeral attendees are invited to attend a reception at Tillsonburg Alliance Church.
