John “Paul” McQuiggan

With his family by his side at The VON Sakura House John “Paul” McQuiggan of Straffordville passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025. Paul was a loving husband, proud father, devoted grandfather, and pillar of his community.

Born on September 30, 1954, Paul took great pride in being a father to Christopher (Khristina), Ryan (Ellyn), and Tyler (Kaila)—a pride that only deepened with the arrival of his cherished granddaughters, Victoria and Ellie McQuiggan.

Paul was predeceased by his beloved wife Cheryle (nee Lamers – 2019), and his parents Dorothy and Ralph McQuiggan and in-laws Hank and Betty Lamers brother Micheal McQuiggan and brother in law Henry Lamers. He is survived by his stepmother Juanita, his brother Jeff (Kathy), sister Diane Squires (Don), and brother-in-law Ed Lamers (Trish). He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Family extended beyond blood for Paul—he adored the neighbour kids, George and Kristen, who have become family over the years.

A hardworking man with a deep connection to his roots, Paul proudly served the Municipality of Bayham for 30 years and ran JP McQuiggan Trucking for two decades. Whether behind the wheel or working the land, he found purpose in labor and joy in the farm and most of all his family.

In his younger years, Paul gave back to the community as a Boy Scout and Cub leader and never lost his love for the outdoors. A long-time camper, Paul was a dedicated member of the Tri County Travelers camping group, where many friendships and fireside stories were shared.

Paul will be remembered for his warmth, generous spirit, and the love he had for his family and friends. He had a way of making people smile and feel welcome, by simply being himself.
