Kenneth Russel Everitt

October 1, 1934 – December 5, 2022

The Everitt family announces the peaceful passing of our father, father-in-law, grandpa, brother, brother-in-law, and uncle, Kenneth “Ken” Russel Everitt, at the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 5, 2022 at the age of 88.

Proud father of Peter (Lorrie) Everitt of Oakville, Kelly (Andy) Horvath of Tillsonburg, and Kerry Everitt of Tillsonburg. Grandpa of Haley Everitt, Robyn Everitt, Jennifer (Michael) Horvath Cao, and Amanda Horvath.  Ken is survived by his sister Pauline (Doug) Schram and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Alice (Broughton) Everitt, his brother Hugh Everitt, and his sister Florence Hawley.

Ken was born and raised in Straffordville where he lived most of his life.  As a teenager, he started working at Hotchkiss Appliances in Straffordville and later decided to venture out as an entrepreneur.  He founded Everitt Electric Limited providing electrical, heating, and plumbing service to customers throughout southern Ontario for over 30 years.  Even after he sold his business, retirement was not part of the plan as he continued to use his plumbing and electrical skills to serve his community as an independent contractor.

Ken was a member and past president of the Lions Club of Straffordville, attending conventions throughout Canada and the United States.  In his spare time, Ken could often be found tinkering around in his shop or garage, fixing motors, building things, gardening and working on yet another project, or joining the guys for a rousing game of euchre at Dennis’ Garage. Ken also loved to travel, from taking family road trips to Frankenmuth to fulfilling his life-long dream of visiting Australia.

In keeping with Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Friends, neighbours, Straffordville area friends, and relatives are invited to attend visitation on Saturday, December 10, 2022 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes – Burial and Cremation Services Inc. (262 Broadway St, Tillsonburg). A private family memorial and inurnment will take place at the Straffordville Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the MS Society, CMHA, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or CNIB would be gratefully appreciated and can be made through Ken’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by cheque through the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes, Tillsonburg (519-842-4238);  entrusted with all arrangements, with confidence. Letters of condolence may also be added on Ken’s tribute page.
