Liz Goldsmith
Lois Elizabeth (Liz) Doxsee Goldsmith of Aylmer, formerly of St. Catharines, Ontario, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026 at St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital.
Born on April 19, 1952, Liz was the devoted daughter of the late Leland and Dorothy Doxsee of Picton, ON. She was a devoted mother to Trevor Simpson (Cathy) of Hamilton and Brent Goldsmith (Kristina) of New York/Toronto, and a cherished grandmother of Maggie and Evie Simpson.
Liz is lovingly remembered by her sisters Linda (Ron) Baldwin, and Barbara (late John) Huizenga, as well as her brother John (Laurie) Doxee of Picton, ON. Predeceased by brother David Doxsee of Picton, ON. She is also survived by her aunt, Anne Cole of Peterborough, ON and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Liz was a hardworking and entrepreneurial woman. She owned and operated her own electrolysis business in St. Catharines before relocating to Aylmer. Over the years, she also worked in various banks, sold mutual funds, and was employed at a car dealership. Giving back to her community was important to her, and she generously volunteered her time at the Aylmer Mennonite Thrift Store and Harvest Hands in St. Thomas, ON.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to the Cancer Wing at Victoria Hospital in London, ON, and to the compassionate staff at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital for the exceptional care Liz received.
Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held in the summer with burial to follow at Sophiasburgh Cemetery in Prince Edward County.
