Marie “Irene” Thompson
Thompson, Marie “Irene” (Foster) of St. Thomas passed away at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Friday, February 24th, 2023 at the age of 78. Irene will be forever loved and missed by her children Steve (Loril) of Cochrane, AB, Brian (Michele) of Mapleton, ON and Teresa Bender (Rich) of Mars, PA. Sadly missed by her 7 grandchildren – Kyle (Terra), Ashley & Jared, Timothy & Julia, Cassidi & Karlie, and 2 great grandchildren – Claire & Kate. Irene will also be remembered fondly by many friends she considered family.
Irene was born in Montreal on April 18th, 1944, daughter of the late John and Fernande (Lemieux) Foster. She was retired as a Registered Nurse Assistant at the Elgin General Hospital. Irene had a deep love for animals and enjoyed the many years she spent volunteering for Animal Aide.
A celebration of Irene’s life will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Saturday, March 18th, 2023 at 1:00pm. Cremation has taken place with interment of ashes in Mapleton Cemetery. Visitation with the family will take place prior to the service from 12:00pm-1:00pm.
