Matthew Saunders

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Matthew Gordon Saunders, aged 25 years on February 26, 2026, after a brief illness.

Matthew is survived by his parents, Lori (Dave) and Stuart (Jenny), his siblings Kristina (Eric), Emily (Mark), Molly (Matt), Nicklaus (Lila), Lucy and nephews Henry and Lucas.

It is with great heartbreak that he leaves behind the love of his life, his “button”, Ashley.

Matthew was so loved by his extended family including the Daniel family, Tammy, Heather, Brody (Stephanie), Andrew and Zachary. His grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and beloved “ma tante”, hold great memories of his warmth, attentiveness and humour.

Matthew was kind, generous, thoughtful, funny, selfless, creative and most of all, loving. He had the best laugh and we heard it often. It is one of the things we will miss the most.

Matthew fought so hard to stay with us but tragically succumbed to his injuries but not before giving the ultimate gift. He was a registered organ donor and 3 lives were saved by his gift. He is our very own superhero.

A celebration of life, honouring his legacy of loving his family well and showcasing his passion for filmmaking is planned for early spring.
