Michael “John” Thorley

June 7, 1944– Jan.16, 2026

John Thorley passed away peacefully on January 16,2026surrounded by love. He is survived by his loving spouse Carol Thorley, and his children; Jeff (April), David (predeceased), Elizabeth (Martin), Cathie, and Julia (Michael). He was a proud grandfather to Melissa (Dan) and Michael (Jamie), children of Jeff; Troy (Heather), Rebecca, Darla, and Adella, children of David; Alison (Tom), Justin (Leah), children of Elizabeth; Angeline and Carol, children of Cathie; and Brandon, Sara (Yazmin), and Megan (Jovi), children of Julia. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Johnny, Jace, Boston, Chloe, Kingston, and Avery.

Families, friends, neighbours, animals and strangers were all met with John’s gentle curiosity, kindness and quick wit. He had a rare gift for making everyone feel like the most important person in the world. John was never in a hurry, always eager to linger just a little longer in a shared moment – one more hug, one more story, one more joke. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
