Saving turtles from road hazards
Jan Everett of London, right, read a children’s book she wrote and illustrated about her husband John’s efforts to save turtles along the Long Point Causeway between Long Point Bay and Turtle Creek Marsh to Summer Reading Club members at the Fred Bodsworth Library in Port Burwell during their final summer session, Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 9. Rick Levick of the Long Point Causeway Improvement Project also outlined steps taken by the nonprofit group, including the installation of turtle and snake “tunnels” under the road, to preserve the lives of wildlife in the area.
