McLay, Carol Yvonne formerly of Aylmer passed away at Elgin Manor on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Peter McLay (2008) and the late Ted White (1967). Dear mother of Lynne Stephens (Tim) of Coquitlam, B.C., Dick White (Lynne) of Iroquois Falls, Sally Hare (Tom) of Burlington and Geoff White of Pitt Meadows, B.C. Loving grandmother of Conner, Logan (Samantha), Zachary (Stacey), Andrew (Lea) and Mackenzie. Great-grandmother of Maelle, Hannah and Bodhi. Cherished sister of Barb Valiquette (Paul). Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Marilyn Sweetman and brother Barry. Born in St. Thomas on July 3, 1934, daughter of the late Russell and Dortha (Berry) Boughner. Carol was Ted’s number one farm hand and later in her life, was a respected real estate agent with Showcase East Elgin Realty. She was a long-time secretary and member of the Trinity Anglican Church. Carol loved her community and was always happy to help; she was a dedicated volunteer at the Aylmer-Malahide Museum, the church and drove for VON and the Canadian Cancer Society. She had many talents that she loved to share; she was a skilled seamstress, cook, knitter and made delicious bread. She was a valued member of the Aylmer Ladies Breakfast Club and always looked forward to gatherings with her friends. Visitation will be held at the H. A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment, Aylmer Cemetery.
