Ed Kebbel

Edmund William Kebbel, age 83, passed away peacefully in Lindsay, Ontario on July 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of his children.

Ed is now reunited with his beloved wife, Gail (Death) Kebbel (2024), whom he married on July 20, 1968, sharing 56 beautiful years of marriage.

He was the loving father of Chris Kebbel (Sarah) and Lorraine King (Craig). His greatest joy came from being a grandfather, and he leaves a lasting legacy of love to his grandchildren: Julia King, Brayden King, Sydney King, and Conri Kebbel. Ed is also survived and will be deeply missed by his brother, Herbert Kebbel (Jeannette); his sister, Frieda Hennig (the late Valentine), and a close-knit circle of nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.

Ed was the youngest son and cherished child of the late Adolph and Emma (Klug) Kebbel. Though he was born in Kitchener, Ontario on June 24, 1943, his heart and his life were entirely rooted in Rodney, Ontario.

Early in their marriage, Ed convinced Gail to move from their home in Toronto to Rodney to take over his parents’ farm, promising her that they would one day return to her own piece of paradise in the Kawartha Lakes. Ed was a man of his word. When they finally sold the farm, they moved to a beautiful waterfront home in Coboconk, fulfilling that lifelong promise to Gail.

Ed possessed a remarkable work ethic, successfully balancing two demanding careers. He proudly tended the family land for decades. Alongside farming, Ed established a respected accounting business in Rodney, serving valued clients all over Southwestern Ontario.

Ed will be forever remembered for his most endearing smile, an expression of his warmth that he shared generously throughout his life and kept right up until his final days. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, lifelong friendships, and cherished community connections. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Friends and family are invited to the funeral service at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer to celebrate Ed’s life on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Cremation-burial, Rodney Cemetery. Donations to the Rodney Park Revitalization Fund (cheques payable to: Municipality of West Elgin with “Park Rehabilitation” in memo) would be appreciated.
