Bayham man seriously hurt in crash

A 31-year-old Bayham man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a single vehicle crash between Springfield and Tillsonburg on Monday morning, Feb. 8.

Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police Constable Troy Carlson said the man was driving north on Culloden Road just south of Pressey Line at 6:53 a.m. when his car left the road, entered the east ditch and hit a small tree.

Const. Carlson said the car hit the tree on the passenger side and the driver, who was the lone occupant of the car, had to be extricated by firefighters.

The man was taken to a local hospital with “life-threatening injuries,” Const. Carlson said.

Culloden Road between Pressey Line and Best Line would remain closed for several hours for the investigation and clean-up following the crash.

Const. Carlson said no further information was available.
