Telling stories at Immanuel Christian School
Grade 1 pupil Eve Sinke recited, with some hand gestures and body language, the story I Have To Go by Robert Munsch during Aylmer Immanuel Christian School’s Speakfest on Wednesday morning, Feb. 3. Principal Keith Cameron said Speakfest was the school-wide culmination of classroom work on oral expression that aimed to help the children become more effective communicators. Pupils in grades 1 to 3 could retell a story from memory, grade 4 pupils recited a poem, pupils in grades 5 to 7 delivered a speech while grade 8 pupils were given the choice of any of the three styles. The top judged performers qualified for the Colonel Talbot Branch 81, Royal Canadian Legion (Aylmer) contest that was held Saturday, Feb. 6.
