Province grants $3.8-million to Aylmer, Central Elgin
Central Elgin Mayor David Marr, left, Cambridge MPP (Liberal) Kathryn McGarry and Aylmer Mayor Greg Currie were all smiles in Aylmer’s council chambers on Tuesday afternoon, March 29 after Ms. McGarry announced the two municipalities would receive a total of just under $3.8-million in grants from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund. The Town of Aylmer will receive up to $1,773,000 for a project along Cedar Street that involves the construction of separate sanitary and storm sewers, watermain replacement and road reconstruction. The Municipality of Central Elgin will receive up to $2-million to upgrade the Port Stanley wastewater treatment facility, including upgrades to the existing lagoons with new treatment technologies, construction of a new mechanical treatment plant, as well as reusing or converting some existing elements of the facility.
