Malahide reneging on Lyons sidewalks?

Malahide councillors, meeting as a budget committee Monday night, Feb. 2, appear ready to go back on a promise to Lyons residents to replace the sidewalks in their hamlet this year.

Under pressure from Lyons residents, they made a $32,000 commitment in October, just before municipal elections, for replacements.

But now, some councillors say that the removal of grass growing on the Imperial Road sidewalk has made it passable, and that as little as a coat of asphalt on top of the sidewalk on Lyons Line might be enough for it, slashing the expected  cost by half or more.
