Catfish Creek floods areas west of Port Bruce

A home on the south side of Rush FloodingCreek Line west of Port Bruce was surrounded by water on Thursday, March 20 after Catfish Creek flooded over its banks at an area commonly known as Cedar Bend.

The residents had left the evening before anticipating their property would be flooded the next day.

A farm property across the road was also flooded.

Catfish Creek Conservation Authority and the Township of Malahide issued a flood warning on Thursday, March 20.

The bulletin stated flooding was “imminent, extremely possible or occurring.”

The warning was to stay in effect until 6 p.m. the same day.

The warning was preceded by a flood watch that was issued on Wednesday, March 19.

The bulletin advised residents to stay away from Catfish Creek and other open bodies of water in the watershed.
