Joan Beech

BEECH, E. Joan (nee Bonney) of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, on September 1, 2026, at the age of 86. Joan is predeceased by her beloved husband Mel (2022). She is survived by her cherished children: Deb Hulet (Charlie), Steve Beech (Laurie) and Cindy Van Acker (Rory); and her daughter-in-law Mary Beech (late Dave). She loved and is loved by grandchildren: Bryan Flagel (Shasta), Chad Flagel (Laura), Ang Flagel (Val), Jeff Beech (Kelly), the late Tommy Beech, Kevin Beech, Lisa Savard (Matt), Kyle Beech (Shanna), Brit Vanrooy (Josh), Kim Van Acker (Chad), Stacey Van Acker (Josh), and Steph Walzak (Cory). Great-grandchildren: Nikkiesha (Ryan), Kennzie (Hayden), Ashton (Lily), Sydney, Mykyla, Hannah, Ava, Nolan, Audrey, Mya, Jacob, Gabe, Owen, Liam and Damian, Great-great-grandchildren: Sophia and Grace, along with many extended family members. Joan was born in Paris, Ontario January 23, 1940 to the late Gordon and Catherine Bonney.

Joan was a Social Services Worker, dedicating many years of service to others in her community. Under the Kennel name, Jolvin, she and Mel bred and exhibited many champion show dogs. Joan was an all-breed dog judge and extensively travelled the world judging.

Joan’s joy was her family and sharing time with them. A celebration of life will be held at the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre 225 Chestnut, St. Thomas, on Sunday, September 27, 2026 from 1-4:00 p.m. Sharing of memories at 2:00 p.m. are welcome. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570).
