Joan Burwell

Burwell, Joan Bertha of Bayham passed away peacefully at home on Friday, October 2, 2026. She was 79 years old. Beloved wife of the late Cub Burwell(1998). Dear mother of Ken Burwell, Beth Gyurindak(Mark) and Rhonda Hanley(Bill). Loving grandmother of Nicole(Wayne), Jade(Ryan), Matthew(Danielle), Leah(Josh) and great-grandmother of Reese, Jack, Quinn, Andrea, Jake, Maxton and Roxanne. Sister-in-law of Mary McKnight, Marlene Moosberger, Mary Burwell and Mary French(Steve). Also survived by a number of nieces and nephews. Known for her love of animals, Joan will be missed by her furry friends Browning and Muffin. Predeceased by her sister Eleaner Palmer, brothers Norman and Jim, in-laws Harold Burwell, Mick Burwell and Henry Moosberger. Born in St. Thomas on October 10, 1946, daughter of the late Alexander and Bertha(Magee) McKnight. Joan was a member of Malahide United Church and the UCW. Throughout her life, she worked as a waitress at Clarke’s Restaurant, White Villa, Northside and Kuma Family Restaurant. The funeral service will be held at the H.A. Kebbel Funeral Home, Aylmer on Thursday, October 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior. Interment, Tillsonburg Cemetery.
