Nellie Van Gurp

The Lord in His mercy and grace, in His appointed time and providence, has taken to Himself, Nellie (Neeltje) Van Gurp, peacefully at Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, on Sunday, October 4, 2026, a few days short of her 100th year. She is survived by her siblings, Harry Van Gurp, Casper Van Gurp and wife Gretha, Neil Van Gurp, and sister-in-law Wilma Van Gurp as well as many nieces and nephews. Nellie was predeceased by: brother Jack Van Gurp, sister Gerrie Saarloos(Floor), sister Ida Janssen(George), sisters-in-law Jane Van Gurp and Marlene Van Gurp, sister Margaret Kaastra(Jack), sister Maria Van Gurp, sister-in-law Theresa Van Gurp, and brother Jake Van Gurp.
Nellie was born in Middelharnis, The Netherlands, on October 8, 1927, and was a daughter of the late Casper and Ida (Koppenaal) Van Gurp. Nellie was a dedicated Christian school teacher for over 30 years, and her desire was to teach little ones and lead them to Jesus. She was a member of First CRC of Chatham for many years and presently a member of Bethel, URC, Aylmer.
Visitation and funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the Bethel United Reformed Church, 49823 Talbot Line, Aylmer. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 am, and the funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow a light luncheon.
