Cyclist struck by truck in Orwell
Elgin County Ontario Provincial Police are still investigating a crash involving a cyclist and a transport truck that occurred just west of Orwell on Talbot Line (Highway 3) near Springwater Road in the late morning of Monday, March 16.
A police spokesman said the collision happened at about 11:30 a.m. that day.
A 2005 Freightliner Transport Truck being driven by a 53-year-old Bayham Township man, and a cyclist, a 67-year-old man who lives near the crash scene, were both travelling west on Talbot Line.
The police spokesman said the cyclist was travelling between the fog line and shoulder of the road when his handle bars were struck by the truck.
The cyclist was thrown from the bicycle onto the shoulder of the road and received minor injuries.
He was taken ambulance to hospital for treatment and later released.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision.
Police were still investigating cause of the collision, and the spokesman said charges were pending.
